Three days after receiving a flu shot, in November 2004, my mom, a 65 year old woman, developed flu like symptoms. She made repeated visits to her doctor with the hope that he would prescribe some medicine to alleviate her symptoms and possibly cure her. Unfortunately, her doctor was not able to stop the progression of her illness. By January 2005 she developed a chronic bronchitis, which lingered until April when she was diagnosed with pneumonia. After many examinations and constant observation by many doctors and specialists, it was determined that the long term treatment she needed to be on was Cytoxan (chemotherapy) and Prednisone (steroids), as recommended for this diagnosis. Her diagnosis was later changed to "Vasculitis", an autoimmune disease in which the body produces antibodies that self-destruct The doctors also prescribed antibiotics, insulin, blood sugar regulators, iron, medication to promote bone density, and medication to prevent ulcers. |
